Community

In addition to formal career programming, IMG aims to develop a strong community among Boothies pursuing a career in asset management via a number of initiatives:

Interview Families

Each year, we organize multiple interview family cohorts. Second-year students lead a family of 4-5 first-year students based on their recruiting interests (e.g., equity research, fixed income research, private credit, quant finance, product strategy, account management, private wealth management, etc.). Interview families meet together regularly to prepare for pitches, practice mock interviews, and develop close relationships with each other.

Mentorship Programs

Throughout the year, second-year students will offer office hours for first year students and host dinners to foster the IMG community.

Social Events

IMG hosts one main social event each quarter to provide an opportunity for members with different areas of focus to meet each other and build on their relationships.

Dinners with Professors

Each spring quarter, IMG hosts 5-10 dinners with notable faculty members at Booth. Each dinner will allow 10-12 IMG members to have an in-depth conversation with a Booth professor on any topics related to finance, accounting, economics, investing, or for fun. Notable professors who have taken part in the dinner series include:

  • Prof. Lubos Pastor (Charles P. McQuaid Professor of Finance)

  • Prof. Amir Sufi (Bruce Lindsay Distinguished Service Professor of Economics and Public Policy)

  • Prof. Robert Vishny (Myron S. Scholes Distinguished Service Professor of Finance)

  • Prof. Ralph Koijen (AQR Capital Management Distinguished Service Professor of Finance)

  • Prof. Christian Leuz (Charles F. Pohl Distinguished Service Professor of Accounting and Finance)

  • Prof. Randall Kroszner (Norman R. Bobbins Professor of Economics)

  • Prof. Stefan Nagel (Fama Family Distinguished Service Professor of Finance)
